HIDDEN CANYON RETREAT

The retreat turns off all exterior lights at 9:45 pm to allow uninhibited viewing of the night sky, one of the darkest in the region. Guests can watch the Milky Way and passing satellites from the courtyard, the hot tub, or anywhere on the property. This nightly protocol, combined with a 9:00 pm curfew on activities, makes astronomy the central experience of the stay.

The property has a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, a year-round hot tub, a game room, and outdoor barbecue facilities for guest use. An on-site market sells groceries, breakfast items, wine, frozen dinners, and vegan or vegetarian options. Guests receive a $7 token per person, per night, redeemable at the market for food and drinks.

Each room is a large suite with a kitchenette featuring an induction cooktop, a toaster oven, a microwave, a Keurig coffee maker, and a stainless steel farm sink. Rooms include private bathrooms, air conditioning, and dining areas with proper cookware, utensils, and dishware. Guests can also order a sack breakfast delivered the night before or use the market token to assemble their own meal from the store's selection.

The retreat sits at the end of a 7-mile gravel road in a remote canyon and is a 30-minute drive to Lehman Caves Visitor Center in Great Basin National Park. Guests can hike from the property into the park, run a flat 3-mile loop on the resort road, or play horseshoes on the lawn. Mule deer and wild turkeys roam the grounds, and the canyon creek is audible from the outdoor seating areas.

Family rooms include two queen beds or a king bed plus a sofa, and they come with children's utensils, bowls, plates, cups, and a pack-and-play crib with a mattress and sheets. The grassy central courtyard, game room, and outdoor pool provide recreation, while the 9:00 pm activity curfew keeps evening hours quiet. The on-site market stocks snacks, ice cream, frozen meals, and fresh fruit, which families can buy using the nightly $7-per-person tokens.
